LONG SAVANNAH PRESENTATION TO THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION – Opportunity to Give Your Input!
Please try to attend the Long Savannah presentation to "City Planning Commission" on June 4th, 2008 at 5:00 PM. Location will be at City Hall on Broad Street.
Concerns of this L/S expansion going via Village Green and into the Glenn McConnell Parkway will be discussed that evening. Also additional traffic connector roads from Grand Oaks Plantation will be presented to City Planning Commission.
The SC DOT still needs to work with City planners on traffic control signal locations and road wise consultants, these issues are still unclear.
This is the time to present all our concerns about the present traffic conditions in Grand Oaks and Bees Ferry Road before this L/S project is approved and our traffic concerns are addressed by City Planners.

Up-Date 1/10/08:
Planning Workshop: A planning workshop was held during the week of Nov. 30 to Dec. 6 at which the public was able to present their ideas for this Development. There was a good turn out for this event and the ideas are now under consideration by Long Savannah. See city letter detailing proposal.

Up-Date, 11/29/06.
The County Parks and Recreation Dept are now considering buying about 1/2 of the area for a new park and the number of homes will be reduced to about 2000..

A new 4800 home project scheduled to start in 2009 is proposed for the 3000 acre area behind Grand Oaks.
The developers are asking Charleston County to move it's Urban-Rural Boundary. This would allow long Savannah to build at a higher housing density than presently permitted.
Some of the exit roads would run into Ashley Gardens Blvd., which will add to the traffic problems exiting from Grand Oaks. However Long Savannah is also proposing to pay for some of the cost of the Glenn McConnell extension past Ashley Gardens Blvd., which could help reduce our traffic problems.
